First of all, I want to thank all of you who have read my posts and stayed on this “get fit” journey with me.

Maybe you even silently cheered me on, and for that I am so grateful. 🤗

I’ve come to the end of this 30 day challenge, and it’s been quite a whirlwind.

I’ve laughed, I’ve struggled, I’ve almost tackled someone for a single french fry…

But most importantly, I’ve come out of this challenge feeling empowered, motivated, inspired, and optimistic about what’s to come.

Ready for a dumbbell demo?

This workout revolves around only one piece of equipment: the dumbbell. Dumbbells are versatile—you can use them to work out your triceps, biceps, forearms, shoulders, and back, among other things.

You can buy dumbbells at any regular fitness store. Purchase a pair at a weight that challenges you but isn’t too heavy.

You’ll do deadlifts, lunges, lateral raises, curls, and more—all with dumbbells. That will help you tone the exact muscles you want to tone, so you can get that body you’ve always wanted!

Workout of the Week: Jumps and Burpees

You might as well call this one the “elevator” workout.

In today’s workout, you’ll complete 10 rounds of 11 reps. You’ll alternate between explosive plyo box jumps and burpees. The workout is simple: go up for plyo box jumps and down for burpees.

This one will get your heart pumping. Why is that important? You can’t just burn calories and fat through weightlifting. You have to sprinkle in cardio too!

There’s no need to go for a 5 mile run to get your cardio fix. Just do workouts that get your heart pumping—like this one—and you’ll be on your way to the results you truly deserve!

Sweat, Sweat, and More Sweat

The saltiness that stings your eyes, the stickiness of your clothes as it clings to your skin, and the hair…oh god, the hair.

That’s right, we’re talking about sweat. I don’t know about you, but I hate being sweaty.

By the time I’m done working out, I feel like I’m in that scene of Flashdance when Alex dumps the bucket of water on her.

Except I don’t look quite as awesome, but you get my point.

This first week of boot camp had me sweating like a sinner in church. Something I haven’t been used to in a while because, well, “regular exercise” has been out of my vocabulary for months.

Now that we’ve covered how sweaty I get (I hope you aren’t eating while reading this) let’s get into the boot camp sessions.

Boot Camp Kicked My Booty

“It will all be worth it in the end!”

This is the mantra I tell myself as I push through those burpees and battle ropes.

If I could sum up my week in three words, it would be this: lots of pain.

There were moments where I truly thought I was going to pass out or throw up…or both.

I expected the exercises to be tough, but I was not prepared for just how intense they would be.

I could feel the burn in places I never even knew were there!

It also doesn’t help that I’m an extremely uncoordinated person, which means I spent a lot of the time tripping and falling over trying to find my balance.

If this were high school, I would’ve been voted class clown right then and there.

Luckily, my amazing trainers and fellow boot campers were there to show me the proper form so that I didn’t totally embarrass myself.

The crazy thing is, no matter how much pain I was feeling or how much I wanted to quit, the feeling I got once I finished is unlike any other.

I feel so accomplished after every session – every day is like taking one step closer to my goals.

Speaking of steps, I could barely take one without feeling like my legs were going to crumble beneath me.

No Pain No Gain, Right?

Being sore isn’t fun, but it does make you feel like you’re working your ass off!

The soreness I experienced my first week was no joke. I’ve seen 80 year olds get out of bed faster than I could.

I feared sneezing because my abs would hurt. Stairs became my number one enemy. And dropping anything on the floor was game over (luckily, I’ve mastered picking things up with my toes).

To speed up recovery, I stocked up on protein rich foods, drank lots of water, and took it easy on rest days.

Sure enough, it worked! By the fourth day I was almost fully recovered and ready to hit the battle ropes.

The first week I only went 3 days, and I realize now that 3 days isn’t going to be enough to get the results I’m looking for.

So from now on, I’m bumping it up to 4-5! I’m on a mission to get some guns and booty goals, so it’s time to woman up and commit!

Most of you don’t know me, but you read a lot of the words I write.

I’m like a ghost in the shadows, but with a lap top and a comfy office chair.

Or, I’m just your friendly neighborhood content writer who works at the Fit Body Boot Camp HQ.

My Humble Beginnings

My name is Michaelle (a.k.a Mica), and frankly, I’m no guru when it comes to fitness and health.

Growing up, I was the fat kid with frizzy hair and zero confidence. A combination of bad genes and unhealthy eating habits caused me to be a whopping 130 pounds by age 11.

(I can still smell the 3 PB + J sandwiches I would eat as an after school snack.)

And things didn’t get any better once I reached the teens.

High school can be enough of a nightmare on it’s own, but walking around at 190 pounds with pimples on my face and terrible fashion sense put a huge target on my back for bullying.

Let’s just say, I was never anyone’s #womancrushwednesday.

It wasn’t until I turned 21 years old that I finally decided to lose weight. I wish I could say I latched onto healthy eating and exercise right then and there, but that’s not the case.

Yoyo dieting, starving, and binging on unhealthy food became my lifestyle. Sure, I went from 190 to 140 pounds in the span of a year, but I did it in all the wrong ways.

My Mission: From Flab to Fab

Now, at 24 years old and 128 pounds, I’m finally in a healthier relationship with food.

While my diet doesn’t consist of pizza and fries on a daily basis anymore, I still have a lot to learn about eating the right foods that are going to burn fat and build muscle.

 Even though I lost a lot of weight, I still feel like a squishy, flabby blob.

“Well, are you working out?”

I do work out!

Occasionally…

Sometimes…

OKAY FINE ABOUT ONCE EVERY COUPLE OF WEEKS.

As I get older, I realize how serious it is for me to get in shape now while I still have the time and energy.

Which is why I’m doing this 30 DAY FIT BODY BOOT CAMP CHALLENGE!!

I started working at the HQ about 6 months ago, and I’ve shamefully never worked out in a Fit Body Boot Camp…until now.

I invite you to follow me on my journey as I take you through an in depth, REAL look at my transformation, and the emotions that come with it.

No filters, no faking…yes, there will be lots of sweating, swearing, and possibly tears.

My goal isn’t so much to focus on the scale, but more on building my self confidence, mental health, and toning some of the squish.

I’ll be posting an update every week here on this blog until February, and stay tuned for a full video next month so you can see my transformation in action!
