Client Spotlight: Beth and Jenny

Today we’re going to do something different with a client spotlight, a chance for attendants of Fit Body Boot Camp to share the success they’ve experienced in their lives because of the new lifestyle they’ve discovered.

This month’s spotlight is on compare“I have lost 78 lb in 11 months. Fit Body Boot Camp gave me the spark I needed to jumpstart my weight loss journey. I soon found myself working out more outside of boot camp and doing 5k’s. I have a ton more energy and since I go right after my work day, it really helps with my stress level.”

Her reasons for starting boot camp come from a very personal place.

“I was intrigued by the fact that is was only 30 minutes. I mean seriously, who can’t fit 30 minutes in somewhere in the day? My trainer also assured me that I can get the results I wanted even with a physical limitation I had (Hallux Rigidus.)

I signed up on my 49th birthday. My health was not a priority for quite some time. I had spent the two years prior taking care of everyone else but me. I vowed I was not going to turn 50 in the same physical condition.

My nephew was disagnosed with Leukemia in March 2013. He was just a couple weeks shy of his 16th birthday. During this time my elderly mother had some significant health issues requiring hospital stays and surgical procedures. When I wasn’t working, I was on the run, visiting hospitals, cooking for family members, house sitting, ect.

My nephew relapsed in January 2014, and on November 16, 2014, our Jake died at the age of 17 from complications of treatment.

My family knows, if you need me, I’m there for you, but I realized I had to make myself a big pantspriority or I wouldn’t be around to provide support for those I loved.

On my very first workout I was only two minutes in and I thought “there is no way I can do this.” I was all ready to give up. Suddenly in my head I heard “hair loss, diabetes, neuropathy, brain swelling, fevers, puking, joint pain, GVHD.” Every single side effect my nephew endured through his journey to fight cancer rand through my head. A switch flipped in my head and I never looked back. I got through that workout, and the next, and the next. I know it was my Jake telling his Auntie Beth I can do it.

Working out is now part of my daily schedule. I make time for exercise, just as I make time for shopping, errands, doctor’s appointments, etc. My energy level is the highest it’s been in years. I have a high stress job and working out immediately after work has helped relieve stress. I also feel that I sleep better as well.”

Beth now aspires to be able to run a 5k in the near future.

“I’ll get there, I know it. Mindset is a BIG part of weight loss and fitness. I always knew I was going to get where I wanted to be, I just didn’t know how long it would take. At this point in my life I just want to continue being healthy and maintain my fitness level.

As far as my personal life, well, 2015 was dedicated to finding physical health. In 2016 I will be working on my mental health. After a heartbreaking loss I need to work on finding my ‘happy’ again.”

And she has advice for anyone unsure about their fitness future as well:

“Get your head in the game first. Understand that you do not have to dedicate a ridiculous amount of time to make a positive health change in your life. A well spent 30 minutes can be a game-changer. Don’t make excuses. I have a physical limitation and I’ve been told surgery is eminent but that I should put it off for as long as I can. I cannot always do the same exercises the rest of the class complete due to the impact on my toe joint, but there is always some kind of modification to the routine that can be done. You CAN lose weight, even if you have some physical limitations. Just get in the game and move your body. Lastly, don’t throw in the towel if you have a bad meal, a missed workout or a bad entire day. That’s the greatest thing about this life, you are gifted with a brand new day to try again.”

Beth, thank you for sharing your story, it’s truly inspiring.

Fitbody BootcampNext, let’s meet Jenny Lawrence. Jenny began attending Fit Body back in September 2014 and has been attending 5-6 days a week ever since.

“Initially I was focusing on the workouts alone which did produce some results, but in time I have also incorporated the nutrition aspect of healthy living and the results have come along in much greater spades! I no longer view my workouts as a reason that I can eat and drink whatever I am craving at the moment…I now allow myself a treat here and there and tend to bypass many temptations that come my way. I look at all the work I am putting in and don’t want to sabotage those efforts!

I turned 40 in 2014…shortly after that an ad popped up on my Facebook page for Sheboygan Fit Body Boot Camp. I did some research online before I contacted the owner, Brent Neevel. After meeting with Brent and being offered my first month free, the rest is pretty much history!”

Lawrence then goes on to explain that Fit Body Boot Camp has impacted not only her fitness levels, but other aspects of her life as well.

“I was always one to hit the snooze button 5-6 times before hauling my butt out of bed. Now I’m awake at 4:10 am and there is no snoozing! I am up and getting ready for my 5:00 am class, I have people there counting on me as much as I am counting on myself!

My eating and drinking habits have done a complete 180 as well. I was a Pepsiholic and a fast food junkie. I have mostly eliminated both of those out of my day-to-day life…I will Fitbody Bootcampadmit I cave on occasion, but it’s rare.

I also have so much more self-confidence in my appearance. This past summer I started wearing skirts and dresses to work, both of which I haven’t donned on this body since high school!”

Jenny’s future goals involve helping others reach the same levels of self-satisfaction that she has been able to.

“I am thinking about getting some certifications in Personal Training as well. My biggest goal is to never go back to where I was before joining Fit Body, that person is gone and will remain that way!

In my personal life, all I hope for is to inspire people to know that at any age or size, getting healthy and fit can be accomplished with the right program. My program was Fit Body and all that Brent has brought along with it.”

And Jenny has some great advice for anyone just getting started with their own fitness journey:

“I didn’t get where I am overnight, and I still have quite the journey ahead of me…but I didn’t give up and I won’t. I amaze myself at what I am able to do now in my sessions that I never thought I would be doing. It has been a slow process, but slower is better than never!”
