At the level of dance Denise was performing there was no room for error and the competition was fierce. She had to be in her best physical and mental condition at all times.

Myself…..Well let’s say I was the typical 98 lb. weakling. I matured late and was smaller than my
classmates. This made me easy prey for the bully’s and so I took a fair amount of physical abuse.

Well all that changed when I decided I could not bear the pain of that kind of humiliation any longer. So I began lifting weights and eating enough for 2 or 3 people….at least I thought that was what I was supposed to do to get as big and as strong as quickly as possible.

Well, I went from skinny to fat! I had no clue as to how foods affected my body. It wasn’t until I got sick and tired of the pain of being fat and girls not digging me that I begin to study and understand more about how the foods we eat really do have an effect on how we look.

To make a long story short, the knowledge and power I gained from really understanding how the body works and how it responds to certain foods is when my life changed.

I then went on to win my first major bodybuilding competition. I became the Overall Mr. Pennsylvania Bodybuilding Champion and my next stop was to take my shot at being Mr. America.

I failed at my first attempt and like anything else I learned from my mistakes and was ready to shoot again. It was at that time that people began to notice my incredible transformation and more and more people began asking me to help them. I took them very seriously and out of my commitment, it evolved into one of the largest personal training businesses in the country at that time.

Like we said before it wasn’t always this easy. Eventually both of us found the right mentoring and that took a lot of the confusion and frustration out of staying in our top physical condition.

We thought like many of you out there that as long as we worked out hard, often and ate very little we would look and feel incredible. This was not the case. We often felt listless, burned out, tired, deprived and cranky. Most dieters can relate to this.
