My Name is Sonya Gonzalez and I’m going to be completely honest with you. It’s been a struggle for me to maintain a healthy weight.
You see, I wasn’t born with the genetics that makes it easy for me to stay in shape. I have to work hard at it. But something significant happened to me about 6 years ago that changed my life forever.
Let me explain…
I was in a really bad car accident. I was advised by my doctors to stop working out due to the injuries I sustained from my accident. Consequently, I gained over 10 pounds. Every extra pound resulted in added pressure on my back. This made it even harder for me to do everyday activities.
I suffered from sciatic pain and back spasms which made it difficult to not only run but walk at times. It made it more of a challenge because I kept packing on the weight. Everyone advised me to do no exercise until I got better.
Here was the worst part of all…I felt horrible. I was in pain every day and the weight gain added to it. So finally enough was enough…I went to a physical therapist and with their help I learned different techniques and workouts that helped to alleviate and eventually get rid of my back pain.
After the rehab with my back, I felt stronger and stronger. I was feeling so great I wanted to take it to the next level. I signed up for my 1st Figure competition! That was an amazing accomplishment and I was in phenomenal shape and looked better than before I was in my accident. It was amazing!!!
